Round, Oval and Rectangular Table Settings

When we first introduced ‘The Ethan Collection’ at Chelsea Flower Show the response was phenomenal. We were offering a product that immediately created a unique social gathering point for every home. Our round table settings enable everyone to see each other around the table, seating from 6 to 20 people in comfort and ensuring the social party ambience can be enjoyed by all those lucky enough to be included.

There is an element of King Arthur to round tables, where all are equal. Dependent on the table size, we typically suggest either three or five curved benches for those needing maximum seating capacity – that way the umbrella pole never comes between the eyes of the diners. The table benches vary in length to suit the size of the table.

Now that three generations of children have grown up around the tables in 'The Ethan Collection', elements of safety and durability have been improved in our designs. All corners and edges are rounded to prevent injury to toddlers, and the bench back which acts as an elbow rest can also become a perch for children. For safety when children sit on the back with feet on the seat, we have lengthened the back feet to discourage the bench tipping backwards.

The furniture arrives in natural timber colour treated with our own unique oil - which is colourless, so simply feeds and enhances the timber grain. You can keep it oiled so retain the brown wood look but the more popular is to allow the weather and UV to swiftly turn the timber a bleached light grey. Most of the pictures on our website show this bleached finish, simply because we exhibit and display older furniture (not new) as clients want to see how the furniture really weathers left outside with minimum maintenance. It's far more honest than showing everything brand new. One set we display is now over 25 years old - out all the time, cleaned regularly and oiled occasionally, it is stunning to see and smooth to touch.

All dimensions offer a comfortable sitting distance from the table edge, chair arms and benches push under the table when not in use. Umbrellas and additional stools are optional.

All of the surface screws are countersunk and timber plugged so they are not visible. Braces under the tables or benches are marine stainless steel or brass, to avoid any timber staining or corrosion. If your table is over 2m then we use 45mm thick top boards (2m and smaller use 36mm). These bigger, thicker tables are built on your terrace as they are too heavy once constructed to allow safe delivery and relocation. Should you move house we offer a relocation service.
